Oracle CEO-- and BNP Paribas Open owner-- Larry Ellison's new mark on Southern California's culinary scene is getting more and more praise.
In two recent articles, Nobu Malibu and Nikita, a recently opened Mediterranean-Italian restaurant that shares the same name as Ellison's actress girlfriend, Nikita Kahn, have been lauded for bringing stylish dining to Carbon Beach.
According to Forbes.com, reservations for dinner at Nikita have to be made weeks in advance. The average bill is around $100 per person.
The Hollywood Reporter is describing the Nikita menu, which includes Chilean sea bass, Kobe Beef sliders, and a Lobster Salad, as "Gazillionaire Grub," or small servings at sky-high prices.
Ellison has spent in the neighborhood of $200 to $250 million buying up at least nine homes on Carbon Beach. And he's not done in the area. Ellison has plans to open a Japanese style hotel, with construction starting as early as September.
The famed businessman has plans to bring some of that culinary delight to the Coachella Valley, too.
Back in March, while breaking ground on the new Stadium 2 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Ellison promised to bring the upscale Japanese restaurant Nobu to the venue.
