The zoo will be open daily from 9 a.m. (7 a.m. for members) to 5 p.m. with the last admission at 4 p.m.

From The Living Desert Zoo: The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens will return to regular hours and reopen its hiking trails, carousel beginning Sunday, October 1. The zoo will be open daily from 9 a.m. (7 a.m. for members) to 5 p.m. with the last admission at 4 p.m.

In addition to the new seasonal hours, The Living Desert’s nature preserve hiking trails also will reopen to zoo guests and members. The Living Desert offers hikers a variety of trails to suit a range of hiking experience levels ranging from the Inner Loop, the shortest and easiest trail about a quarter-mile long to the Wilderness Loop, a three and a half mile, advanced trail. Hikers are asked to stay on the trails as they are a nature preserve and observe all posted signage. The trails, accessible with paid admission or with an annual membership, are open every day, except Christmas Day, through May 31, 2018.

The Living Desert is home to more than 450 magnificent animals in their natural settings. This year, The Living Desert is celebrating the Year of the Giraffe, raising awareness and conservation action to support the majestic giraffe. The Year of the Giraffe Launch party, to be held Sunday, October 1 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., will feature giraffe-themed activities, all day giraffe feeding, behind-the-scenes tours and more! Popular annual events return including La Gran Fiesta on October 14, Howl-O-Ween on October 29 & 31, and the 25th annual WildLights begins November 22, among others.
