Man Arrested For Suspected DUI in Golf Cart; Passenger Ejected
The 41-year-old cart driver was booked into jail over the weekend, police said.

LA QUINTA, CA – A San Clemente man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his passenger was ejected from the golf cart he was driving in La Quinta, authorities said today.
It happened about 2:40 p.m. on Oak Tree Boulevard near Pete Dye, said La Quinta police Sgt. Chris Frederick.
Officers determined the golf cart driver, identified as 41-year-old Stephen Southam, "made an unsafe turning movement" while southbound on Oak Tree Boulevard, Frederick said.
A 59-year-old man in the front seat was ejected from the golf cart.

The passenger was taken to JFK Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening, the sergeant said.
Southam was booked into the Indio jail on suspicion of DUI, Frederick said.

Bail was set at $50,000 and Southam was released Monday, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department inmate records. He is due in court March 21.
