Man Struck And Killed By Train In Indio
It's the second train-related death in Indio in less than two weeks.
INDIO, CA — Authorities Saturday continued investigating the death of a man who was killed after being struck by a train in Indio, making it the second train fatality in less than two weeks.
The crash was reported at 7:06 p.m. Friday near Indio Boulevard and Clinton Street, according to the Indio Police Department.
Responding officers found a man who had been struck by a passing train and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was unknown why the man was on the railroad tracks, and Union Pacific Railroad personnel were investigating the death.
The identity of the man was not immediately known.

On April 23, a woman was also killed after being struck by a train near Indio Boulevard and Fred Waring Drive.
Police reminded the public that crossing railroad tracks on foot is extremely dangerous and illegal in most areas.
"Trains can approach quickly and quietly, making it difficult to react in time. For your safety, always use designated crossings and nearby overpasses when traveling across railroad tracks," the Indio PD announced.
