Man Tied to Series of Desert Robberies Jailed

Joshua Ramey was arrested on suspicion of felony burglary for three incidents, police said.

PALM SPRINGS, CA - A man from the small Mojave Desert community of Landers who is tied to three burglaries in Palm Springs was behind bars in Banning Tuesday.

Joshua Ramey, 28, was arrested Friday in Palm Springs on suspicion of felony burglary for three incidents that occurred between December, 2016, and February, the Palm Springs Police Department reported. He was spotted by patrol officers at a Palm Springs business and was taken into custody without incident, police said, adding that at the time, he was wearing a pair of Gucci slippers he was seen taking during one of the burglaries.

In December 2016, police investigated a burglary that occurred in the 1600 block of Calle Marcus where Ramey allegedly entered a home through its back door and ransacked the residence before stealing the victim's car. The victims were not home at the time, police said.

Several days later, police said Ramey returned to the same home and took several more items. During this burglary, a neighbor observed Ramey and was able to snap a picture of him.

In February, Ramey allegedly broke into a home in the 1100 block of Cactus Drive where police said he was caught on camera and was seen taking several items of clothing, including the Gucci slippers.

Ramey is being held in the Larry D. Smith Correctional facility on suspicion of three felony counts of first degree burglary and one felony count of theft of a motor vehicle, police said. Several more felony charges are pending review by the District Attorney's office, police said.

Ramey was being held in lieu of a $55,000 bond and is expected to appear in court at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to online inmate records.
