Need a Breather? Build a Gingerbread House!

It's been a soul-crushing few days in the Inland Empire. Take a deep breath and build a gingerbread house to benefit a charity.

Members of the public have until Saturday to make gingerbread houses for a miniature holiday village that will be displayed at an Indian Wells resort.

Local residents and businesses can buy a “lot” for their gingerbread houses in Miramonte Resort & Spa’s annual Gingerbread Village; a 1-foot-square lot is $20, and a 1-by-2-foot “deluxe” lot is $35.

For each lot sold, $5 will be donated to Animal Samaritans, Miramonte spokeswoman Chris Clemens said.

Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. Saturday, and the houses will be on display through Dec. 29.

To be eligible to win prizes, such as the grand prize two-night stay at the resort, the houses must be at least 51 percent edible, Clemens said.
