No Damage From Quake Felt in Coachella Valley
The temblor, initially reported as a magnitude-4.5 but later downgraded to 4.0, struck at 9:10 a.m. in Big Bear Lake.

A light earthquake centered in the Big Bear Lake area Wednesday morning was felt in Palm Springs and other neighboring areas, but no damage was reported in the Coachella Valley.
The temblor, initially reported as a magnitude-4.5 but later downgraded to 4.0, struck at 9:10 a.m. at a depth of 6.8 miles, its epicenter seven miles south-southeast of Big Bear Lake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Coincidentally, attendees at a Southern California Earthquake Center conference in Palm Springs were among those who reported feeling the shaker.

Local police said they received no reports of damage or other issues.
Cal Fire Riverside officials also received no reports of damage anywhere in Riverside County, spokeswoman April Newman said.

But in a precautionary routine executed after any quake greater than magnitude-3.5, fire trucks were pulled out of their bays to prevent them from becoming trapped in the event of undetected station damage or aftershocks.
