Nonprofits Invited To Host Blood Drives: Riverside County

The nonprofit LifeStream is offering to contribute $10 for each pint of blood that participating charities receive through donors.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — LifeStream Blood Bank is inviting local nonprofits to host future blood donation drives, and is offering to contribute $10 per pint to hosts.

The nonprofit LifeStream, which is offering the deal in honor of National Philanthropy Day on Sunday, is facing a "critical" shortage of donated blood that it says threatens to interfere with crucial surgeries in Riverside County and elsewhere in Southern California.

"The COVID-19 pandemic and related shutdowns continue to affect our ability to collect blood needed to assist local patients," LifeStream CEO and President Dr. Rick Axelrod said. "We're also sensitive to the negative impact these forces have had on our fellow nonprofits, and feel this is a creative, meaningful `win-win' program for our community.

“For every nonprofit that hosts a LifeStream blood drive next January or February, and
collects at least 20 pints of blood, we’ll contribute $10 per pint to drive hosts,” Axelrod continued.

Nonprofit organizations must reach out to LifeStream no later than December 15 to schedule an event. Contact Thresa Lozano at tlozano@LStream.org to schedule a blood drive.
