In a tough economy, several businesses closed up shop in 2011 in Palm Desert.
Toys "R" Us and the Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery were among the businesses that shuttered over the past year in Palm Desert.
on Fred Waring Drive and Highway 111 earlier this year and reopened this fall in Indio with side-by-side stores of Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us.
No tenant has been announced to replace the Toys "R" Us in Palm Desert, according to Lauri Aylaian, the city's director of community development.

"We believe that a lease has been signed, and we believe that it’s with a grocer," Aylaian said, adding that she had no other information about who the potential grocer may be.
Just down the street, the closed in July, but may reopen if another buyer is found.

The owner reported weak sales at the location.
LG's Prime Steak House was in July following problems with the lease, but its Palm Springs and La Quinta locations remain open.
In November, the developer told the Palm Desert Planning Commission that a Mexican restaurant is among on Highway 111 near El Paseo.
Just down El Paseo, Native Foods closed its Palm Desert location to find a bigger space. The popular restaurant still hasn't announced a new location.
