Palm Canyon Theatre Launching Its 30th Anniversary Season With "Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Palm Canyon Theatre will launch its 30th anniversary season next month with the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

The production runs Oct. 9 through Oct. 18 at the theater, located at 538 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs.

Based on the Bible's Book of Genesis, the show tells the story of Joseph, played by Scott Clinkscales, whose 11 jealous brothers sell him into slavery after their father gifts him a vibrant coat of many colors. The nearly entirely sung-through musical follows Joseph's trials and eventual rise to power.

Kelly McLean stars as the narrator, accompanied by a children's choir of roughly 27 local youth, many of whom participated in the theater's recent summer camp.

David Brooks directs the production, with musical direction by Cheryl Gaul and choreography by Sanai Wright. Stephen Giboney designed the sets and lighting, Derik Shopinski designed the costumes, and Nick Edwards handled projection design.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays, and 7 p.m. Thursdays.
