Palm Desert Jobless Rate Drops To Two-Year Low

The number of unemployment claims in Palm Desert dropped to the lowest rate in more than two years, according to preliminary data.

The jobless rate fell to 7.6 percent in November 2011, down from 8.9 percent during the same month last year, according to data from the California Employment Development Department.

That mirrors a nationwide trend. The unemployment rate in November dropped to 8.6 percent from 9 percent the month before. The December rate will be announced Jan. 6.
