Palm Desert Motorcyclist ID'd In Deadly Head-On Crash: CHP

CHP officials say the crash happened near Vista Point.

PALM DESERT, CA — A motorcyclist died after crashing head-on into a car on a winding road near Palm Desert on Sunday, the CHP reported Monday. Coroner's officials have since identified him as 50-year-old John Devlin of Palm Desert.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. on Highway 74, east of Vista Point, according to CHP Officer Mike Radford. Devlin was on a 2010 BMW motorcycle headed westbound when he collided with a 2010 Toyota Prius that was headed eastbound.

"For reasons still under investigation, the BMW traveled into the single eastbound lane, directly in
front of the Toyota," Radford said in a news release. "The front of the BMW struck the front of the Toyota, and the rider was ejected from the motorcycle."
