Palm Desert Police Announce St. Patrick's Day DUI Enforcement Operation

Police say the'll be out in full force this St. Patrick's Day weekend.

PALM DESERT, CA – Palm Desert police are warning St. Patrick's Day revelers to steer clear of drinking and driving this weekend. Officers will be out in full force looking for drunk drivers on Friday night.

The Palm Desert Police Department says they will launch DUI saturation patrols between the hours of 7 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.

"The Palm Desert Police Department will deploy additional officers on special DUI Saturation Patrols at times specifically selected to stop and arrest drivers showing signs of alcohol or drug impairment.," Dep. Thomas Anderson said in a news release.

"In addition to this St Patrick’s Day enforcement effort, all police, sheriff and the CHP will be on heightened alert ready to stop and arrest any impaired driver throughout the long weekend," he said.

The operation is funded by state and federal grants.
