Palm Desert Wind Advisory: Mother's Day Weekend Windstorm

Are you planning an outside Mother's Day event this Sunday? Here's how windy it's going to get.

PALM DESERT, CA — Mother's Day weekend in Riverside County's desert communities, Palm Desert, as well as the Pass Area. It's going to be a windy one, according to the Meteorologists at the National Weather Service.

They've issued a wind advisory for parts of Riverside County from noon Saturday until 6 p.m. Monday.

The NWS predicts west winds from 25 mph to 35 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, are expected in the Riverside County mountains, Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.

The wind advisory is in effect Indio, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Coachella, Borrego Springs, Banning and Desert Hot Springs.

Unfortunately for your Mother's Day plans, the strongest winds are expected Sunday afternoon. Those 60 mph wind gusts are expected to last into the evening. You should rethink your plan if you've scheduled an outdoor Mother's Day celebration.
