Palm Desert's Living Desert Zoo Ranks 'Best Zoo' In America

PALM DESERT, CA — The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert was recently named the "Best Zoo" in America by 24/7 Wall Street, as seen in USA Today, according to rankings of Yelp reviews, according to officials.

According to the USA Today online article, The Living Desert tops the list of 20, which also included the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Denver Zoo and the Santa Barbara Zoo, among others, zoo management said.

In the rankings, "24/7 looked at a total of 272 zoos, all of which were within the zoo category on Yelp or near the top 1,000 U.S. cities by population," the facility said. "Only zoos with at least 50 Yelp reviews were considered. The ranking is based on the average rating and number of reviews.”

“The Living Desert is honored by this recognition,” said Allen Monroe, president/CEO of The Living Desert. “This ranking is not based on the usual reader vote, but on an analysis of Yelp reviews, from actual customer feedback and options. The Living Desert is open daily 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the last admission at 1 p.m. through Sept. 30. Starting Oct. 1, the Zoo returns to regular hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
