The golf tournament, held Saturday at the JW Marriott Desert Springs resort, culminated St. Jude Week, a series of fundraising events that also included a 5K walk/run, Songwriter’s Night, Celebrity Jam Session and Saturday Soiree.

During a ceremony at the Classic Club in Palm Desert Sunday, organizers made a mock check presentation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for $1.12 million, organizers said.

“At a cost of $2 million per day to open the doors at St. Jude, the funds raised will cover a little more than a half-day of operations for the hospital, which is funded primarily by individual contributors and fundraisers,” according to organizers. “No family is asked to pay at St. Jude -- and that includes travel costs, treatment, housing, medications and more.”

Next year’s event is scheduled for March 10-13, 2016.
