Palms to Pines Automotive Celebrates 35th Anniversary

When Ken Williamson opened Palms to Pines Chevron and Palms to Pines Towing – the predecessors to Palm Desert’s Palms to Pines Automotive – on April 1, 1976, friends told him he ought to join the Optimist’s Club.

“I was opening my doors right in the midst of the energy crisis in the mid-seventies when oil prices were rising and supplies were becoming more and more uncertain,” he said, adding with a chuckle: “I’m guessing they thought opening a gas station on April Fool’s Day probably made a lot of sense.”

Fast forward 35 years, and Williamson is enjoying the last laugh.
