Parade To Honor Coachella Valley HS Girls Soccer On Championship Game

The Coachelal Valley High School girls' soccer team won their CIF Div. 5 championship, finishing second in the state championship.

THERMAL, CA — The Coachella Valley High School girls soccer team, referred to as the Lady Arabs, will be honored Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in Thermal for their CIF Division 5 victory, as well as placing 2nd in the state.

The parade will take place at Airport Boulevard and Jackson Street, traveling down Airport Boulevard to Coachella Valley High School, the school district said.

The event will be hosted by the Coachella Valley Unified School District, County Supervisor Manuel Perez, the Riverside County Office of Education, the Coachella Valley Education Foundation, and other local partners.

"It's been very exciting as we have all watched the young Lady Arabs win their first-ever CIF championship and go all the way to state," Perez said in a released statement. "It is with heartfelt pride that we invite the community to show our green and gold spirit as we honor the Coachella Valley High School girls' soccer team for their hard work and determination as they have made these historic and amazing achievements."

The team reached the CIF State Championship final for the first time, but lost to Marin Catholic, 4-1, in the state final in Sacramento. They won the CIF-SS Championship game against Del Sol, in a 3-2 victory at the end of February. The Lady Arabs are nine-time league champions and have never before won the CIF League.

Students, family members, and the community are encouraged to attend the parade and celebrate the team.

According to a statement from the district: "The historic season reflects the dedication and perseverance of the Lady Arabs and highlights the leadership of Coach Francisco Morales and the coaching staff, whose guidance helped the team achieve one of the most successful seasons in Coachella Valley High School history."
