PALM DESERT, CA — Celebrate and make a difference this Sunday during National Public Lands Day in Palm Desert, the city said.

Community members can enjoy the outdoors for a trail cleanup and park beautification of Homme-Adams Park at 72500 Thrush Road from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The event will kick off with a bench dedication to honor Buford Crites, a former Palm Desert council member who always advocated for the health of the city's open spaces, parks and trails.

"By volunteering at Homme-Adams Park, participants not only improve public spaces but also learn how small, thoughtful actions like trail maintenance, habitat restoration and litter removal help sustain precious lands for future generations," city officials wrote in a statement. "National Public Lands Day reminds us that caring for our environment is a shared responsibility and a way to connect with both nature and our neighbors."
