Pet Adoption 'Jump into Joy' Event Set for La Quinta this Weekend

LA QUINTA, CA — A community pet adoption event featuring characters from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation's film "The Cat in the Hat" will be held at a Petco store in La Quinta this weekend.

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services and Petco Love, a nonprofit organization, will present adoptable pets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 78720 CA-111.

Petco Love's "Jump into Joy!" is a national pet adoption weekend event, featuring characters from the full-length animated film. The campaign will also feature a public service announcement voiced by actor Bill Hader, who stars in the film.

"`The Cat in the Hat' reminds us that even an ordinary day can become something joyful. Adopting a pet brings that same sense of fun and possibility into your life," Petco Love President Chelsea Staley said in a statement. "Pets fills our homes with love, laughter and moments of happiness we never could have imagined."

All adoption fees will be waived and every adoption will include spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and an engraved name tag.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to meet amazing pets, each deserving of a loving place to call home," Mary Martin, RCDAS director, said in a statement. "We encourage the community to jump into joy by adopting your new best friend."
