Rep. Ruiz Calls For Coachella Valley Military Academy Applicants

Coachella Valley students interested in applying for a military academy nomination have until Oct. 21. Here's what you need to know.

PALM DESERT, CA — Students interested in applying for one of the nation's federal military academies were urged to submit their nomination forms to Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-Coachella). The deadline to apply is Oct. 21.

Congressional representatives, such as Ruiz, are permitted to nominate 10 prospects to attend four of the five service academies, which are the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Naval Academy and the Army West Point. The Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination, only an application.

Service academy applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 17 and no more than 23 years old, as well as unmarried and have no child support obligations.

There are five military academies.

Ruiz is accepting Military Academy Nomination forms from pending or recent high school graduate who lives in his 36th Congressional District. See a 36th Congressional District map here.
