RivCo Man Arrested After Pursuit In Coachella Valley: Sheriff

Police assisted in a search for the man and urged residents to remain indoors and report any suspicious activity.

INDIO, CA — A 31-year-old suspect who launched a pursuit after failing to yield to authorities during a traffic stop ended in Indio Thursday with his arrest.

Braulio Ceja of Coachella was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer with force and battery on an officer, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop for unknown reasons at 12:31 p.m. Thursday in the area of Calhoun Street and Avenue 48 when the driver sped off, causing the deputy to fall and prompting a pursuit.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies found the vehicle unoccupied in the 83000 block of Horizon Avenue. Police officers, who assisted in the search, urged residents to remain indoors and to report any suspicious activity, according to the Indio Police Department.

Ceja was found and taken into custody without incident at 1:20 p.m. in the 83000 block of Wexford Avenue.
