There's still a chance to get tickets to the show that raises funds for Sidewalk Angels Foundation.

PALM DESERT, CA — Rob Thomas will perform at Agua Caliente Resort Casino on Friday to benefit the animal advocacy group Sidewalk Angels Foundation.

With his versatile and raspy pop-rock vocal style, Thomas has produced music for approximately three decades as both a solo artist and the frontman of Matchbox Twenty.

He is best known as the guest singer on Santana's single "Smooth," which spent 12 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Thomas all three of his career Grammy wins, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Matchbox Twenty's debut album, "Yourself or Someone Like You," reached RIAA 12x-Platinum status with its post-grunge sounds, while their follow-up project's lead single, "Bent," became the band's first No. 1 hit. Their latest album, 2023's "Where the Light Goes," was the group's first in over a decade.

Thomas told People that the album steered away from the "manufactured '90s angst" of their earlier work.

"The one thing I'm glad is that I got to see a glimpse of what we sound like when we make music together now," he said.

Following the 8 p.m. concert, Thomas is scheduled for another show in Lincoln, in Placer County, on Saturday.

The Sidewalk Angels Foundation is dedicated to providing critically needed funds and support to over 20 no-kill animal shelters and animal rescues across the country that help to fight for the rights and fair treatment of those with no voice, according to the group's website.

"Organizations doing amazing work that desperately need our help to continue with animal rescues, adoptions, building proper shelter facilities, getting proper medical care, low-cost spay and neuter programs, helping to teach children kindness and compassion through animals, and advocacy programs such as fighting against cruelty and working to fight against breed discrimination. The foundation also works with homeless shelters that provide for the displaced by meeting the physical needs of people and their pets in crisis so that families in need are not forced to give up their pets."
