Semi Truck Blaze Sparks Small Brush Fire In RivCo Near 10 Freeway: Cal Fire

WHITEWATER, CA — Flames coming from a semi truck that caught fire sparked a small vegetation fire on Thursday afternoon near the Interstate 10 in Whitewater.

The fire was was reported just before 3 p.m. near the Whitewater rest area exit, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Six engines and two water tenders were requested to assist at the scene, fire officials said.

The semi's tractor trailer was fully engulfed in flames and spread to a small area of brush that was contained.

No injuries or road closures were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
