Show Will Go On At 'Desert Oasis Music Festival' Despite Vegas Shooting

INDIO, CA – Following the worst mass shooting in U.S. history at a concert in Las Vegas, organizers behind an upcoming music festival in Indio said Monday the show will go on as planned.

The Desert Oasis Music Festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Empire Polo Grounds.

Empire Music Ventures, which is producing the inaugural festival, said security measures are in place, in cooperation with local police and emergency personnel.

"We want to let the public know that their safety and security is our highest priority," festival organizers said in a statement Monday morning. "As with all other public events, we work closely with the Indio Police Department and Cal Fire and have safety and security plans."

Indio Sgt. Daniel Marshall said no major changes to the department's festival security measures were anticipated following the Las Vegas shooting.

Desert Oasis Music Festival will feature a full slate of reggae, R&B and hip hop artists, including Damian Marley, Los Lobos, Rebelution, E-40, Murs, Warren G and Reel Big Fish.
