Summer Lineup At Plaza Theater : Feature Films, Concerts

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The summer season of entertainment at the Palm Springs Historic Plaza Theatre packs classic movies, live musicals and comedy onto the marquee — beginning Wednesday and continuing until the end of August.
"The summer programming encompasses a wide range of entertainment," according to a venue statement Tuesday. "There are two signature series: the `Summer Broadway Cinema Series,' bringing acclaimed stage productions to the big screen, and the `Summer Sing-Along Series,' inviting audiences to sing their hearts out to beloved film classics."
For a little over two months, the downtown theatre, located at 128 S. Palm Canyon Drive, will offer diverse selections that appeal to all ages.

The venue inaugurates the seasonal array Wednesday evening with the documentary "Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul," followed in July and August with films such as "Jaws," "Grease" and "Frozen."
Live theater offerings kick off with "42nd Street - The Musical" on June 21. A live rendition of "Footloose" is scheduled to play in mid-July, as is "Titanic The Musical."

"One Night of Queen," featuring artists Gary Mullen & The Works, is slated for July 26, with "International Classical Concerts" a week later provided by the Latsos Piano Duo.
Comedian Jessica Kirson will bring her tour to the theatre on Aug. 14 and 15, while the Hollywood Golden Era classic "The Wizard of Oz" will play on the venue's big screen Aug. 22.
The season will close out on Aug. 30 with "Kinky Boots: The Musical."
The theatre seats 700. Ticket prices vary, depending on the program.
