Coachella Valley Man Arrested In Theft Of $20K Generator, Other Stolen Property Found: Police

Along with four stolen vehicles, stolen tools, and the commercial air conditioning unit, a firearm, ammunition & narcotics were also found.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — A Coachella Valley man suspected of stealing a commercial diesel generator worth more than $20,000 and numerous other items was behind bars Tuesday.

William Otis Moore Jr., 45, of Desert Hot Springs, was booked into the Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of multiple felony charges, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

Bail information was not immediately available.

Officers responded to a report of a generator theft on Friday. They learned that a generator along with its attached trailer was stolen that morning, and later identified the suspect and his vehicle in the 13000 block of Little Morongo Road, authorities said.

A search warrant was served at the address, and authorities seized the generator, along with four stolen vehicles, stolen tools, a commercial air conditioning unit, a firearm, ammunition, and narcotics, police said.

Moore was taken into custody without incident on Overture Drive in Palm Springs during a traffic stop.
