Suspected Carjacker Crashes In Palm Desert, Injuries Reported: Sheriff's Dept.

PALM DESERT, CA — A suspect accused of stealing a vehicle was hospitalized and taken into custody Monday after colliding with another vehicle in Palm Desert.

Deputies responded to a report of a carjacking at 8:40 a.m. Monday in the area of Highway 74 and Bursera Way, according to Sgt. Robert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies at the scene learned that a crash involving the alleged stolen vehicle had occurred in the area of Parkview Drive and Monterey Avenue near College of the Desert.

One person sustained moderate injuries, while another was seriously injured, in the two-vehicle collision that left one vehicle overturned, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

"The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital in stable condition," Martinez said.
