The crash was at 9:42 p.m. Saturday.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA -- A 17-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car at a Desert Hot Springs intersection, police said Sunday. The crash was at 9:42 p.m. Saturday, when the pedestrian tried to cross Palm Drive at Camino Aventura, said Sgt. Daud Chang.
Chang said that a 25-year-old La Quinta man driving a 2013 Ford Fusion was unable to stop in time, and struck the teen.
The victim, a Desert Hot Springs resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her name was not immediately released.

Palm Drive is five lanes wide at that crossing, and there is no marked crosswalk or streetlighting there, according to an internet mapping photo.
