Teen Shoots, Kills Own Mom In Palm Springs Home: PSPD

The 19-year-old is accused of gunning down his own 36-year-old mother, according to police.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of fatally shooting his mother at their Palm Springs home. Brian Conroy was booked on suspicion of murder in the death of 36-year- old Amber Lane, who was shot just before 4:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of Calle San Antonio and died at a hospital.

Palm Springs police say they got a 911 call from someone inside the home who reported that a woman was shot.

"PSPD Patrol Officers arrived on scene within in minutes and discovered a female adult inside of the home who was the victim of a shooting," police said in a news release. "The female victim was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition."

The victim's husband and her stepson, who also live in the home, were questioned by police but are not believed to be involved in the shooting, according to police.

"During this investigation, PSPD Detectives determined that the victim’s biological adult son, Suspect-Brian Conroy, 19 years old, intentionally shot the victim inside of the home," police said. "The victim...has since died from her injuries."

Conroy was identified on social media as a former Palm Springs High School student. Lane was the director of marketing and public relations at the Wang's in the Desert restaurant in Palm Springs.

A possible motive has not been disclosed by police.
