Traffic Delays Expected On Miles Avenue At Jefferson Street

INDIO, CA — Ongoing construction work on the Miles Avenue pipeline will cause traffic delays starting Tuesday morning in Indio.

The valve-related concrete work will occur on Miles Avenue between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, according to the city of Indio.

"Traffic is projected to back up in both directions in the vicinity of Miles Avenue and Jefferson Street, as the signal will be on flash. Detours are encouraged," the city announced.

The Indio Water Authority's construction project along Miles Avenue, from Monticello Avenue to Sedona Drive, includes installing 3,700 linear feet of 18-inch diameter pipeline in order to increase water pressure and provide additional fire flow capacity in the west part of the city’s service area.

Motorists are also advised that as part of the ongoing seismic retrofit of the Indio Boulevard Bridge over the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel, the city of Indio has closed westbound Indio Boulevard between Clinton and Madison streets. The bridge is now expected to reopen by
April 8.

Eastbound Indio Boulevard remains open.

"The intersection of Clinton Street and Indio Boulevard will be on red flash. Drivers should take alternate routes when possible," the city advised.
