Traveling Vietnam War Memorial Art Exhibit Coming To Palm Desert

Take Me Home Huey is composed of a transformed boneyard U.S. Army Huey helicopter that served as an air ambulance during the Vietnam War.

From Take Me Home Huey: Palm Desert is honored to feature Steve Maloney’s mixed-media sculpture Take Me Home Huey during December’s First Weekend events. Take Me Home Huey is composed of a transformed boneyard U.S. Army Huey helicopter that served as an air ambulance during the Vietnam War. The 47-foot-long art sculpture is accompanied by a commissioned song, a documentary film, an exhibition, and an educational website.     • Artist Steve Maloney, representatives from Light Horse Legacy, and City staff onsite for interviews

    • Artwork available for viewing; school tours
  • Saturday, December 2, 2017
    • Artwork available for viewing all day
    • 1:00 p.m. – Opening ceremony with Color Guard presentation, welcome from Mayor Jan Harnik and the artist, among others
    • 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. – Event with Veterans/military organizations, arts organizations, food, activities for kids provided by the Desert Recreation District, and more
    • 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Film Screening of Take Me Home Huey documentary

    • 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. – Coffee in the Park: Coffee, treats and hands on art projects
