United Announces Direct Flights From Palm Springs To Newark

Looking to get to the NYC area? How about taking a non-stop redeye from PSP?

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Desert residents looking to escape to the East Coast — particularly the New York City area — will soon be able to take a direct fight from the convenient Palm Springs airport to Newark, New Jersey. United Airlines will start a non-stop service between the two airports beginning in December.

“The City of Palm Springs is delighted that United Airlines continues to recognize the desire for more flights to and from Palm Springs to the east coast,” said Palm Springs City Manager David H. Ready. “This is a great compliment to the Palm Springs destination and we thank United Airlines for their continued investment in
our Airport.”

The service will be seasonal, and is slated to run from Dec. 19 through March 30. Flights will happen on a 119-seat Airbus 319 and run one time a day — departing in the evening to arrive in the East the following morning, according to Palm Springs officials.

Typically, flights between Palm Springs and Newark can only be completed through a connection, but United expanded service out of New York/Newark to 15 destinations, as well as adding the Palm Springs flight and a nonstop seasonal flight to Key West, Florida.

"We approached these schedule adjustments with our customers in mind, knowing that we wanted to create a schedule that offers customers beginning their travel in the New York City area convenient flights to many of the business and leisure destinations they frequent the most," said Ankit Gupta, United's Domestic Network vice president.
