From the California Highway Patrol: Safety Tips and Reminders for the Upcoming Ironman Race
As the Ironman Race is quickly approaching, the Indio CHP Area would like to remind all drivers and participants to “share the road” on Sunday, December 8, 2019. Beginning at 6:30 A.M. the valley roadways will be filled with thousands of bicyclists and runners. Many road closures will be taking place to ensure the safety of the participants, volunteers and spectators. The California Highway Patrol will be controlling traffic at the following locations:
Northbound and southbound traffic on Jackson Street at 62nd and 60th Avenue

Northbound and southbound traffic on Filmore Street at 62nd Avenue
Motorists are encouraged to reduce their speed when passing a bicyclist or runner and avoid distractions while operating a motor vehicle. We ask motorists to be patient and obey all road signs and detours. Motorists are also encouraged to remain vigilant and look ahead for sudden stopped traffic.
