Valley Blood Bank Appeals for O-Negative Donors
Local hospitals are in need, blood bank officials say.

Blood bank officials Thursday issued an appeal for donations of O-negative blood, citing an insufficient inventory to meet the demands of local hospitals.
About 7 percent of the population has O-negative blood, and those red blood cells can be used for any patient, making it particularly valuable for emergency transfusions, according to officials from the LifeStream blood bank.
Those with O-negative blood can only receive O-negative transfusions.
