Watch Live Stream: Funeral for Slain Palm Springs Police Officers Jose Gilbert Vega and Lesley Zerebny

The memorial service is happening at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Tuesday.

PALM SPRINGS, CA – Thousands of people are expected to head to the Palm Springs Convention Center on Tuesday to pay their final respects to two of Palm Springs' finest. Officers Jose "Gil" Vega and Lesley Zerebny will be laid to rest 10 days after their end of watch.

A mix of community members, leaders, politicians and police are all expected to be in attendance at the somber ceremony. Gov. Jerry Brown, state Attorney General Kamala Harris and law enforcement representatives from across the nation are also slated to be at the event.

The service for Vega and Zerebny, who were gunned down Oct. 8 after responding to a family disturbance call at a Palm Springs home, will begin at 11 a.m. PST at the convention center.

The officers will arrive at the center via separate procession routes: Vega from the Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City, and Zerebny from the Ramona Bowl Amphitheater located in her hometown of Hemet.

The two processions are scheduled to arrive at the convention center between 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.

A graveside service for Vega will follow at the Coachella Valley Public Cemetery. Zerebny's graveside service will be held at a private location and will only be open to family members.

Vega, 63, had served PSPD for 35 years and was due to retire in December. He is survived by a wife and eight children.
