Wind Advisory Issued for Coachella Valley, San Gorgonio

The advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. Tuesday

A strengthening onshore flow has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Advisory for the desert and San Gorgonio area.

The advisory is in effect until 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The onshore flow will create strong and gusty winds in the Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass on Monday afternoon and evening, according to NWS. Winds will weaken by early Tuesday morning.

Winds are expected to be west to north west at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and local gusts of up to 60 mph.

Winds are expected to increase Monday afternoon, peaking in the evening and lowering after midnight, the NWS said.

Interstate 10 and 8 will be impacted by strong winds, resulting in hazardous driving conditions for high-profile vehicles, the NWS said.

Visibility will be reduced to 1 mile or less in blowing dust and sand, according to the NWS.
