Woman Suspected In Multiple La Quinta Mail Thefts: Cops

A 31-year-old woman is behind bars awaiting formal charges in multiple counts of mail theft, Riverside County Sheriff's Department says.

LA QUINTA, CA — A Coachella woman is suspected of multiple mail theft incidents in the La Quinta area, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Chila Espinoza, a 30-year-old resident of Coachella, was identified as the suspect and arrested Friday on suspicion of committing multiple counts of mail theft and other charges, according to Sgt. Jamie Lewis. Additional charges will be sought pending further investigation into the stolen property, he said.

Espinoza is being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail and her next court date was scheduled for July 27 at the Indio Larson Justice Center.

La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies served a theft-related search warrant at the 53000 block of Avenida Villa in connection to a series of mail thefts in the community of La Quinta.

"During the service of the search warrant, deputies located multiple pieces of stolen mail," Lewis said.
