World Tetherball Championships Coming to Valley
Local kids from all three school districts get invite to playground game championships.

A playground favorite is hitting the big time.
The annual World Tetherball Championships are coming to Knott’s Soak City in Palm Springs in early October.
If organizer Tim Ingram has his way, the three-day event will have a very local feel to it.

Ingram says that invitations have been extended to elementary schools across the valley to form teams to represent them at the
championships.
“It’s great fun for the kids,” Ingram said “They get up there, represent their school, play hard, get to cool off in the water and play some more.”

Teams will be made up of 10 players (two from each level, first through fifth grade) and chosen by school principals.
“We’re challenging local businesses to sponsor their local school,” Ingram told Patch.
The entry fee for the tournament and admission to Soak City is $40 per player, he said.
Individuals are allowed to enter, as are players over 12 years old for the Open Division.
The tournament will also benefit the locally-based youth charity Camp For Champions.
