$3.2M Pavement Project On State Route 111 In Palm Springs To Begin In September

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Construction work on a pavement project on State Route 111 in Palm Springs is expected to begin next month, city officials announced.

The pavement project will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, officials said.

The $3.2 million project will span SR 111 from Interstate 10 to several miles west of Tramway Road.

The project was funded through Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, a state law that raises about $5.4 billion annually to repair roads, bridges, and public transit. The repairs are funded through higher fuel taxes and vehicle fees.

Officials said motorists should expect single-lane closures, with one lane open in each direction during hours of operation, and signage posted on the 10 Freeway and State Route 111.

Motorists were also asked to reduce their speed, check for construction crews and equipment, and allow extra travel time when driving through the area.

The pavement project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
