PALM SPRINGS, CA — Construction crews will begin a pavement preservation project on State Route 111 near Palm Springs beginning in September that will require a lane closure for several months, the California Department of Transportation announced.
One lane will be closed in both directions Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 a.m. as the work is performed. The construction is expected to continue until the end of the year, according to Caltrans.
The project extends from the 10 Freeway to just west of Tramway Road and includes roadway resurfacing to improve driving conditions.
The construction work is part of a $3.2 million state project funded through Senate Bill 1, also known as the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
Motorists were advised to slow down, watch for crews and equipment, and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.
