Police said the program was developed through a shared vision of Police Chief Kyle Stjerne, Councilwoman Grace Garner and the Blue Zones Project.

Under the program, police personnel or volunteers will make scheduled telephone calls to participants to check on their well-being.

If a participant does not answer, the department will follow an established procedure to determine the person's welfare, which may include contacting an emergency contact or arranging a welfare check by an officer.

The program is open to anyone seeking regular wellness contact, including older adults, homebound individuals and residents with limited local support.

Residents interested in participating can contact the department at 760-323-8116 or pspdconnect@palmspringsca.gov.
