Museum of Ancient Wonders

The Museum of Ancient Wonders (MoAW) is the Coachella Valley's newest museum destination located in a storefront gallery space of 7,400 sq. ft. featuring exhibitions focused on worldwide paleontology, paleoanthropology, archaeology, and cultural anthropology rarely seen outside major cities. With a large inventory of exhibitions of original antiquities and authentic reproductions from Egypt, Greece, Africa, Asia, and Mesoamerica, along with scientifically produced laboratory fossil casts representing and gathered from more than 40 natural history museums, MoAW is the only museum of this scope and nature in the entire region. While temporarily located in a storefront, a rotation of exhibitions happens once a year. Current exhibitions include PALEO: The Story of Life, a comprehensive collection of fossils displayed in geological chronological order, from cyanobacteria of the Precambrian and Cambrian Eras, through the first vertebrates of the Paleozoic, to the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous Periods of the Mesozoic Era commonly referred to as the Age of Dinosaurs, culminating in mammals and prehistoric humans (including a rare cast of the famous "Lucy" skeleton from the National Museum of Ethiopia). PALEO dramatically illustrates the progression of life on Earth encompassing 4.6 billion years of geological and paleontological history. An additional gallery contains 50 original antiquities from Asia titled ALL UNDER HEAVEN: Earth, Heaven, and the Afterlife. These are antiquities spanning 3,600 years ago to the mid-1920s representing Japan, China, and the nations of Southeast Asia.
