Firebirds Hockey To Face Roadrunners In 1st Round Of Postseason

Coachella Valley Firebirds will battle the Tucson Roadrunners after losing to the Bakersfield Condors Saturday.

PALM DESERT, CA —The Coachella Valley Firebirds hockey team, an affiliate of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, will face the Tucson Roadrunners in the first round of the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs on Wednesday at home at the Acrisure Arena.

The Firebirds dropped their regular season finale against the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday night by the final score of 4-2.

Gustav Olofsson and Tye Kartye each scored for the Firebirds in the defeat that secured them the second-place spot in the Pacific Division.

Joey Daccord made 32 saves in the loss that drops the Firebirds to a record of 48-17-5-2, finishing the regular season with 103 points. Coachella Valley finished the game 0-for-5 on the powerplay and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
