Palm Springs Theater To Screen 'Clue' In Tribute To Tim Curry

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Historic Camelot Theatre at the Palm Springs Cultural Center will screen "Clue" for free Wednesday evening in tribute to actor Tim Curry, who died last month at age 80.

The 1985 comedy-mystery, featuring Curry as Wadsworth the butler, will be shown at 6 p.m. at the theater, 2300 E. Baristo Road.

The screening is the second of two films presented by the cultural center in memory of Curry and entertainer Dolly Parton, who both died Sept. 15. The center screened the Parton-starring "9 To 5" last week.

"There are artists whose work becomes part of our shared memory — the performances we quote, the songs we know by heart, the film we return to because they still make us laugh," center officials said in a social media post announcing the screenings.

Curry gained fame for his portrayal of Dr. Frank N. Furter in the 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." His extensive film and television credits also included "It," "Congo" and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York."

The English-born actor had been in declining health since suffering a major stroke in 2012.

Parton, the Grammy-winning country music star known for songs including "Jolene," died following a battle with cancer. Her film credits included "9 To 5," "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and "Steel Magnolias."
