31st Annual Concert Series Returns to Jazz Up Stanford Shopping Center This Summer

10-week concert lineup features performances by top Bay Area jazz musicians

Stanford Shopping Center invites the community to enjoy 10 weeks of rhythm and blues as Summer Jazz, an annual tradition in Palo Alto, celebrates its 31th anniversary at the Bay Area’s premiere shopping and lifestyle destination.

A free outdoor concert series, Summer Jazz is produced by SFJAZZ and, in 2017, is proudly sponsored by See’s Candies. The series showcases a variety of jazz musicians and local favorites performing every Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. between June 22 and August 24 in The Plaza at Stanford Shopping Center. Clifford Brown Jr. of KCSM Jazz 91.1 will serve as emcee.

This year’s collection of performances is fine tuned with artists amongst the best jazz musicians in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. Guests will enjoy sounds from incredible artists such as Beso Negro, featuring a blend of Gypsy, Latin and Americana music, Oakland Jazz Choir, a dynamic and multicultural ensemble dedicated to the education, preservation and perpetuation of vocal jazz, and jazz vocalist, Masha Campagne, whom Critical Jazz praised saying, “The originals from Campagne are bold and vibrant as well as airy and seductive."

Since completing its highly anticipated 120,000 square-foot transformation last year, Stanford Shopping Center continues to celebrate the Bay Area’s upscale and outdoor lifestyle with community amenities and events such as Summer Jazz. Stroll the beautiful gardens, stretch out on the lawn and enjoy The Plaza during Summer Jazz. Highlights of this space encompass a water feature with infinity edges, utilizing reclaimed water, and the seasonal rotation of blooming flowers.

“Summer Jazz is an occasion to come together with our community for warm evenings with lively music and good times,” said Stanford Shopping Center Director of Marketing and Business Development Julie Kelly. “Experiences such as Summer Jazz illustrate how Stanford Shopping Center has evolved into a Palo Alto lifestyle destination offering dining and shopping to philanthropy and cultural events.”
