• Admin moves towards more restrictions on technology (thecampanile.org) — Palo Alto High School is tightening its classroom tech rules, expanding the existing phone ban to cover smartwatches, earbuds, smartglasses and other wearables during instructional time. Administrators and teachers say the change aims to cut distractions and comply with California’s Phone-Free School Act, while some students welcome better focus and others worry about losing helpful tools like music during independent work.

Her lawsuit alleges years of gender-based discrimination and reputational harm after a mass email about her firing; Broadcom, headquartered in Stanford Research Park, declined to comment.

• Santa Cruz County athletes win big over weekend (santacruzsentinel.com) — Palo Alto High’s softball team fell 10-0 to Aptos in the CCS Division I quarterfinals, part of a big playoff weekend for Santa Cruz County schools. Several baseball and softball teams advanced to CCS semifinals, while Santa Cruz High’s boys’ volleyball squad beat Mountain View to earn a shot at a state title.
