Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s San Francisco/Menlo Park Complex Gives Back to Various Academies for Global Volunteer Month

This summer Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (MSSB) employees volunteered their time to help improve the campuses of the Cesar Chavez, Green Oaks Dual Immersion and Los Robles Magnet academies in East Palo Alto.

June is MSSB’s Global Volunteer Month (GVM). During the month, all of the firm’s employees are encouraged to give back to their communities. Several of the company’s offices have been organizing large collaborative events to maximize GVM outreach. This event was organized by MSSB’s Menlo Park office.

The Menlo Park office chose to volunteer at the two academies because of the fine work they do with peninsula children. The academies, which are a part of the Ravenswood City School District (RCSD), empower “students to make choices, achieve their personal best and be productive and responsible members of our society,” according to http://www.ravenswood.k12.ca.us. They primarily serve children in minority communities.

“We were honored to volunteer at these wonderful schools,” MSSB Vice President Justin Evans said. “Everyday the Ravenswood City School District does an amazing job preparing today’s young people for tomorrow.”

The Menlo Park office’s volunteering did not go unnoticed by RCSD staff members.

"Please accept our most sincere gratitude for the wonderful work,” Ravenswood ELD Coordinator Beatrice Martinez told Evans.  “Having you and the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney staff donate their time was a blessing to us.  Our children, parents, teachers, and staff members are very appreciative and pleased with your volunteer work...we look forward to more partnership events with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney!"
