A bold, funny, and enlightening new work, this scintillating premiere was a favorite at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s 2025 New Works Festival and is a recipient of TheatreWorks’ Kurjan/Butler commission. Set at a Silicon Valley aerospace company, HR executive Val investigates a potential staffing issue amongst the lead engineers, suspecting sexism. She instead encounters simmering tensions of ancient origins amongst the company’s Indian immigrant employees bubbling over and threatening to derail the company’s upcoming rocket launch. Center Theatre Group’s Brindell &amp; Milton Gottlieb Director Snehal Desai directs this gripping investigation of identity and desire, which features Megan Suri (Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever”), Kapil Talwalkar (Peacock’s “The ‘Burbs,” NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” NBC’s “Night Court”), Kunal Dudheker (20th Century Studios’ “Ad Astra,” Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), Kathryn Smith-McGlynn (20th Century Studios’ “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials”), and Ranjita Chakravarty (Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever”).

The Stanford Summer Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Summer Chorus will perform "Lobgesang" (Hymn of Praise), Felix Mendelssohn's epic "symphony-cantata", on July 31 and August 1 in Bing Concert Hall. Considered one of Mendelssohn's greatest works, it was the first symphony after Beethoven's 9th to combine orchestra and chorus. The soloists are sopranos Esther Tonea and Jennie Yukyung Byun and tenor Chance Jonas-O'Toole. Esther is a former Adler Fellow at SF Opera and winner of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Chance Jonas-O'Toole, a former member of the Merola Program at SF Opera, sang with Deutsche Oper Berlin for the past two seasons and is now back singing with SF Opera. Jennie Yukyung Byun is a prominent soprano soloist living the Bay Area. Conductor Paul Phillips is the Gretchen B. Kimball Director of Orchestra Studies at Stanford, where he also directs the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Philharmonia. The program opens with an overture by the remarkable British opera composer Ethel Smyth and a choral work, "Heavenly Home", arranged by Shawn Kirchner and conducted by Rafael Ornes.

Join us for an evening in the garden to celebrate National Night Out — an annual event bringing neighbors together across communities nationwide. This event is co-hosted by Gamble Garden, the <a href="https://paneighborhoods.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Old Palo Alto Neighborhood Association</a>, and the <a href="https://www.palbc.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Palo Alto Lawn Bowls Club</a>.
Stroll the garden, tour the historic Gamble House, try your hand at lawn bowling, and let the kids get their hands dirty with crafts and succulent planting. Community partners will be on hand to share information on emergency preparedness, sustainability, gardening, and more.

Garden staff will harvest, prepare, and label fresh samples straight from our edible garden for you to taste on site (please note, this is a tasting event, not a harvest to take home). Doug Kalish, PhD will give a talk on food plants native to North &amp; South Americas, covering what we can grow here, including some of the very plants you’ll taste that day. Second Saturday is free and includes activities such as:
