The Albany Consort opens its 53rd season with a solo harpsichord recital by co-director Jonathan Salzedo. Jonathan is very comfortable playing harpsichord continuo with organizations large and small, from San Francisco Symphony to individuals needing a harpsichord accompanist for a recital. For this free concert, Jonathan rises to the challenge of playing for an hour without other musicians to take on the frontline! He has chosen pieces that he has known for a long time, ranging from Giles Farnaby (1612) to Astor Piazzolla (1951) and including JS Bach (1730). He plays this variety of music on a harpsichord built in 1975 by one of the pioneers of modern harpsichord making, Frank Hubbard.
Plus, there will be desserts!
